We treat every search assignment exactly as we would a consulting engagement, with clear timelines, a plan of action and deadlines for us to accomplish on your behalf. Upon discussing your particular requirements we may recommend a retained search or we may recommend a results-based (“contingency”) search. Our plan of action will be tailored to you, will be clearly defined and be provided to you in advance for you to review and to help us to refine. Our paperwork process is simple and straight-forward. We use a one-page master services agreement with mutually fair terms, written in plain English. Our fees are equitable and fair and everything is clearly spelled out. We are a “no surprises” company.

The recruiter(s) assigned to your search will have depth of experience, will come fully prepared to go to work and will have excellent oral and written communication skills. Their job is to listen carefully to you and your team, and to then provide realistic expectations as to what you can expect over the next few weeks as they work on your behalf.

We then go to work, and will report back to you at about the 3-5 day mark with some initial findings and people to discuss, before rolling up our sleeves and digging deeper on your behalf.

We always pre-interview each candidate, and we’re not afraid to question items on resumes or statements made that seem out of place or suspect. Our job is not to simply place people on your team today- our job is to place the right people on your team for this project and for future projects. This especially includes ensuring they’re a good cultural match. We don’t take shortcuts, we check references and we’ll always be ready to give you own opinions about the people we’re screening on your behalf. Do your other firms do that?

What do we expect from you? Candor, transparency and a desire to work with someone who’s going to tell you what you need to hear, even if it may not be what you want to hear. We’ll tell you if your expectations for what you’re asking for are in line, and if not, we will (in relatively short order) discuss with you, so that we can adjust our sights as needed.

Many of our clients work use our services on an exclusive basis for important searches. Why? Because it allows us to tell your story more completely, it lightens your workload (because you’re not having to work with multiple agencies), it causes much less confusion for candidates (who won’t be inundated with phone calls), and it holds our feet to the fire for results! (Oh- and it costs you the same.) If you’ve never given a firm like ours an exclusive on an important search, we suggest you try us out and judge for yourself.
